I have thought a lot recently about the word, “domain.” What do we mean by it?
I think we have at least these definitions:
A ruled area
A region of discussion
I wonder if these share the same idea, namely, the idea of authority.
Who is to say how things will be? Who is the author of how things will be?
The lord of the domain.
I think our application of this term to not only geographical area but also ideological area is profound.
In my house, I say how things will be. I am the lord of the domain.
Is it so, that he who controls the area, controls the discussion?
Each of us is happiest in his or her own domain.
But which others must we traverse?
And can we traverse them, without stopping to rest?
